We took Clay to the train station this morning and put him on a train bound for Toronto.  There he will spend the weekend, enjoying his yearly "mancation" with some friends from high school.  I have to be honest, once upon a time, I would have shed many a tear while standing there at the train depot.  But not today.  The past several years of ecology conferences have steeled me to the idea of him having to leave.  It's a part of academic life whether I like it or not.  So now, instead of being sad when he goes away, I look forward to all the things I get to do when he's gone - like watch really girly, romantic movies.

In honor of High Fidelity, here are my Top 5 Movies to Watch When Your Husband is Away

1. Pride and Prejudice
I just watched this a few weeks ago while Clay was working and the kids were gone, but I still picked it up at the library today to watch again.  I love Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and I love the tension that builds between him and Jennifer Ehle, who plays Lizzy.

2. The Holiday
This is easily my favorite romantic comedy.  It's got a stellar cast, along with romance, comedy, and heart-warming tenderness.  What more do you need?

3. Under The Tuscan Sun
I think most women can empathize with Diane Lane's character in this movie, even if they haven't experienced the unimaginable heartbreak that happens to her character.  This movie is about letting go and just living in the moment.  It resonates for me.

4. An Affair to Remember
Cary Grant.  Need I say more?

5. 27 Dresses
This is a movie Clay will actually watch me...just not as often as I like.  I simply can't get enough of the bar scene where they sing Benny and the Jets together.

Now, I know there are some ladies out there who are flying solo this weekend just like I am.  Their husbands are in Toronto doing the "mancation" thing with my husband.  But I want to hear from all the ladies - What are Your Top 5 Movies to Watch While Your Husband is Away?
